Arrow More power for '98 Boxster?

I'm considering purchasing a 1998 Boxster with the 2.5L engine. Are there any affordable upgrades that would improve HP & performance?

Any reccomended handling upgrades? This car has 17" wheels.

Thanks

If you have not seen the video give it look, 911 GT2 Turbo 620bhp. Its just sick how fast this car is. If I were you I would save my money and get the 2000 2.7L or 3.2LS.

Thanks for the info.

I can get this car for about $20k as a business trade. I have an 87 911 and love it, so I don't know why I'm considering a car with less power. I'm sure it'd be fun though.

Theres not much you can do to a 98 2.5L except a supercharger. That cost a little $$$.If you want to pep it up a little with some sound, torque and throttle response,I would get a GIAC chip and an EVO intake.Otherwise upgrade to a 2.7L or the "S".

And on those "bad" days when it rains or if you have high humidity...better climate control. If the car is good, sounds like a good buy. I don't think you'll be sorry, even with the "less power".

Cheers.

Less power is not going to disapoint you because the handling over anything else will astound you. If you go to the track for DE and drive it well you would keep up with cars in excess of 250hp. I also found that less power gave me an advantage over say an s model in an autocross in that I do not have to modulate the power as much and have less slipping & sliding. also, look at the published specs o-60 times are not significantly different than an S. Nor the top speeds (7mph I think) which you will probably never go. I have been at 128mph max at Summit Point, WV but thats it. By the way Turbo Performance Center in Jessup Md. has a supercharger kit for about 6k. www.turboperformance.com Good Luck
