Post Upgrade to 18's?

Time to get new tires...I have 17's on my Boxster S now..Thinking of going for 18's although I am a bit concerned about ride quality.. The road here really suck...

I'd love to hear comments from Boxster owners who have made the move from 17's to 18's...

Also, tire recommendations would be great..Not planning on tracking the car <yet>,,,

Thanks all!

(any leads on where to get these would be nice too!)

I have 18" Sport Designs. Look AWESOME but not the easiest to clean. I have 030 suspension, yet no problems with ride comfort. It is a sports car, after all.

I recommend Kumho Ecsta 712 tires...been very pleased with mine. They are better than the Pirelli P-Zeros that came with the car.

I have 17inch Boxster S wheels, modified somewhat.I have 15mm spacers in the rear, which gives the rear a more planted feel and fills the wheel wells nicely.Im running 225-45-17 front tires to cut the understeer down.(Yokohamas AVS sport)Set the tire pressure at 32F36R.This combination really changes the look to an aggressive look and the car handles MUCH better,I love it.By the way I had PZEROS, the Yokohamas AVS sport are MUCh better. They have LOADS of grip. When at the limit these tires are VERY predictable.I have much better control of the car with these tires and set up.This is an alternative to moving up to 18 inch wheels.

Controlit,

I just upgraded from the factory 17s to a set of Roock 2 piece rims in 9 x 18 up front and 10.5 x 18 in the rear. My rears just fit, you may want to go with no larger than 10" width in the rear to be safe. As far as ride quality, I love it. I also have an eibach lowering kit on the car. The whole setup works great together.

I hope this helps

Cheers,

Rage

For the street I have Kinesis K58 8x18 and 10x18 with Micheline Pilot Sport ZR rated 225/40/18 and 285/30/18. They get lots of compliments and I like how they make the car handle. I have the MO30 factory suspension with standard ride height (my car has not been lowered) and I do not find the ride too harsh, but then I like for a car like this to handle like a go cart. This is my fun car after all.

Thanks for all the responses guys!

Scott, your car looks awesome. I could not get a 'blow up' picture of the wheel in your car..

Where did you get your wheels?

Anybody have any opinions on 'knock off' Porsche wheels? Don;t feel like spending so much right now...

BUT if I do feel like spending, any opinions on hollow spoked 18' Porsche wheels? ANy big difference?

Thanks again

Mark
