Unhappy Axle Hop

Guys,

I couldn't find this topic mentioned - maybe I looked in the wrong place?? Anyway, why is it that when you're aggressively launching the car, instead of the tires spinning, it seems as if the rear of the car hops.... any ideas?

Older 911s like mine do this also - and it's a REAR engine. REAC and MEWCs don't make good drag racers, it seems.

i just got a new 2003 boxster s that does it. But the thing is i had a 2000 boxster that did not do it. So something is wrong with the new ones. all you can do is just start off slow

the '03 Box S has more power...more ability to break the tires lose...

Anyway, Porsche's aren't stoplight racers...

i dont think theres really a difference in the 00-02 S power, there was only an 8hp increase but there also was a weight increase..as far as axle hop,all Boxsters do this.I had axle hop with my 2.5L and now with my 3.2L...i dont really get axle hop at all,i pretty much have the launching of my Boxster mastered now

This has happened on Both my Boxster and my C5 Vette.

I think it is just a matter of mastering an aggresive start.
