Post Location of Climate Control/Radio in Dash

I have noticed in the odd dash picture that I see on this board or on eBay, that the location of the Climate controls and Stereo are often different from mine (2001 Boxster S - bought originally in May 2001). I have the Climate controls on top, then the Becker Stereo head, then a cubby hole, then the digital sound controls on the bottom - with no cupholders anywhere. Yet I see these in different configurations, often with cupholders, stated as 2001 models. Comments?

Are the components able to be moved around fairly easily?

Easily interchangeable.

The a/c controls can be moved to the lower compartment (just ahead of the shifter) and you can put a variety of things in its place (cupholders [gag], another audio piece, even a space for storage if you like).

I've used a few loaners that had the PCM system (nav screen is in place of the standard radio and a/c controls) and the a/c was down low.

You can do this yourself, or any dealer can do it for you.

On a '01 if you have PCM or DSP you cannot have cupholders as there is no room. On your car you would have to remove DSP and move everything around to retrofit cupholders. You can then stick the DSP unit in the back. Jeff

After seeing the cup holders up close, I am no longer interested. I think I'll leave things as they are.

Thanks

Cupholder? That's the woman sitting next to you isn't it?
