I guarantee you this is NOT a Photoshop or in any way an altered picture. However, it is "something", let's see if you can figure out what it is...

Talking

My guess: you are having someone cut in a glass window.

Ken! You aren't going the way of the 'ricer' are you?!! <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />

Hmmm... not just dark tinting.

Let's see, now, my old BMW Cabriolet had a piece of black cloth (same fabric as the top) with elasticized straps to attach it to the car. It was designed to cover the rear (plastic) window when parked in the sun to inhibit the UV breakdown process (hazing, brittleness, etc.). My monitor at work is very dark, so I can't see any real details back there, so that's my guess. I think Porsche (or the aftermarket) has come up with a similar (though undoubtedly more elegant) solution.

Ok I'll let the cat out of the bag so to speak.

Can you say "Wal-Mart" ? Yep, Wal-Mart sells a black fleece material by the yard for $6.97/yd that is pretty close to an exact color match for the Boxster black top. I bought 2 yards which was enough to create a piece to cover the outside of the back window and the inside with plenty of room to spare. I recommend trimming on the car so that the piece overlaps the window by a couple of inches in each direction, I actually followed the bow line at the top and the edge of the top at the bottom. I did this because I just put my hardtop on for the winter which means my top will be down for an extended period and I wanted to protect the plastic window during that time.

Here is a picture of my leftover material. One yard probably would have been enough, but I opted for 2. Best $ I've spent on a mod in a long time and a fun little do-it-yourself project that will come out better than the factory fleece (wrong color and too small IMHO) and better than those aftermarket ones (too expensive and straps unnecessary). The piece stays in place from top up to top down thanks to the friction between the fleece and the fabric top.

I used a black felt material to cover the window when the top is down. The felt seems to stick to the top and stays in place. The black doesn't leave any threads that show.
