Help! Locked out (again)
Car is locked, battery is dead (MY2000 S). You know the tune. In anticipation of receiving my new battery maintainer, I decided to hot wire my car's electric system to unlock the hood and thereby enable access to the battery. I devised a new cigarette lighter plug to lighter plug and even added clamps. I plugged in the car and then to my trickle charger. The alarm meekly beeped several itmes while it flashed the lights (a good sign) and then went dead. I believe that by having the charger set to 10 amps I likely overloaded the cigarette lighter circuit and blew the fuse. Here comes the fun part. I did not find a blown fuse, but seem to have misplaced my little piece of paper that shows which fuse is for which circuit. (Maybe there is a diagram in the FM which is locked inside the rear trunk).
1. Can anyone look up which fuse goes to the cigarette lighter? It would be super if someone could scan the page and post or email it :-)
2. How else can I feed in power? I could stick wires into the fuse block, but which places?
Thank you!

The fuse for the cig lighter is d5 I believe. This is from memory. If that fuse is good and you still arent getting power make sure you have a good ground. If you still cant get anything, have fun finding the emergency release.

maybe this varies by year, but my 2002 has a block in the fuse box to attach a positive battery terminal clamp, and instructions in the manual saying to attatch the negative to the door lock latch for exactly this problem

You guys are going about this the wrong way. There is a special trick to getting into the bonnet of the Boxster. First pry your hands above the LF wheel, and you will feel a plastic flap on top to protect the shock absorber. Peel back this plastic flap, and you will feel a cable. Pull on the cable, and the bonnet will open. If the battery is not completely dead the alarm will start sounding. Believe it or not this actually works.

It's actually quite simple. In LF wheel well, feel directly above the tire, and you will feel a plastic flap. Pry plastic flap down (don't worry it's very soft, and you won't damage it) and feel behind flap for a cord. Pull slightly on cord, and bonnet will pop right open.

dont start the car that way youll blow lots of fuses that way. only use it to pop the trunk
backfeeding through the cigar lighter or the fuse box is easier then trying to find the trunk release on older cars
