Read it and weep. Bisi is a Genious in the import drag racing circut, I have met him on numerous occations. He had a shop with his own dyno and tested his car back to back...

Let's be honest,I've done it and I can't feel a darn thing from it. +5hp is an awfully big gain in HP for free, wouldn't Porsche have let Boxsters off the assembly line with more power if it cost them less?

Nope. First, it keeps the 986S away from the 996 until they can up the 996 HP.
The 2.5L were snorkeled as well, there was a larger gap between the power of the 2.5L and 3.4L,something to the tune of 90-100HP correct? Porsche wouldn't be so stingy as to keep 1-5hp from the 201hp 2.5L engine when there wasn't a 'S" model out yet. When the Boxster first came out everyone said it was underpowered, why wouldn't Porsche want to help that image? If anything they could have done it for an option.
Seriously, the 3.2L is underpowered compared to the scant bigger 3.4L.
Isn't it more then just that? I don't know if it's true or not but I heard the Boxster 'S' gear ratios are different from the 3.4L 996. That could account for the acceleration difference as well.

FWIW....I recall seeing somehwere, on one of these discussion boards, that the snorkle was a noise limiting device, and that this was the ONLY reason that it was included in the final design. I recall that this came directly from a Porsche engineer.

2.5k-3k is where the exhaust is the loudest too, and although I can hear the intake at times, it's not loud enough over the exhaust to be impressive. I'll just keep trying to get rid of the resonance in the exhaust.
