Default Boxster Tiptronics

Anyone had any issues with their Tiptronic cars? I got a Dad who's looking at a Tiptronic Boxster S. I have very little knowledge about the Tips. I have heard of some problematic ones before 2000. Anyone had issues with theirs?

73k miles on a base 2000 so far, my tip is rock solid!!!

Expensive as hell to get serviced (Oil change) north of $300!

the tips are fine, I have seen some higher milage ones 90K + start leaking due to to front pump failure, and then you will need a new one. But for the most part they rock solid and bulletproof

We may be selling my wifes 2003 Boxster TIP - granted it only has 22K miles, but, knock wood, the trans has been great.

I actually have grown quite fond of the TIP and its versatility!!

YOU PROBALY COULD GET AWAY WITH JUST A PUMP, I RECOMEND THE WHOLE TRANS BECAUSE AFTER PARTS AND LABOR A PUMP REPLACEMENT IS ABOUT 2500-3000 AND YOU STILL HAVE A HIGH MILAGE TRANS
NEW TRANS IS ABOUT 6K OUT THE DOOR FOR A BOXSTER ITS MORE COST EFFECTIVE
