Default top transmission

I am pretty sure I need a new Drivers side top transmission ( the part that the cable goes into is stripped out.) and was wondering if this is a part that goes out frequently? Also if anyone has an inexpensive place to purchase this part used?

THANKS!

Do you have a picture of the part you want to replace?

this is the part that I need to replace. Is it stupid to use the used part for this? it's 1/2 price used ( $250)

anyone have a better place to get it? I have my car tore apart right now, and really want to get it back in drivable condition before it gets cold here and I can't drive it anyway.

Why do you need to replace the entire transmission?

Anyway, you might check with your local groups and see if anyone with the new style transmissions has converted to a track car.

if you want to try to reuse them you can take them apart and check for damage, the old style . the one on the right in toolpant picture has a tendecy to overrun the half moon gear but can be reset, the new style is a full cicrle gear and cant over run but still can strip out

I would NEVER get all those little parts back together correctly...

Can you get just parts for them? who sells the bits and pieces?

You may want to try over on the Boxster Racing Board. Many are preparing cars for Spec Racing and taking out the top mechanisms. Website is:
