Default CEL Codes 1126 and 1133

Anyone know what the two codes are and what the likely cause is? I have cleaned the MAF sensor previously and the light stayed off for a couple of weeks.

Anyone know where a list exists for all the check engine light codes and a diagnostic plan?

Thanks Richard

Those may not be accurate - depending on the model year (DME) of his car. Boxster (986) has had DME 5.2, DME 7.2 and DME 7.8.

Mines a 2000 stock non S so the list would seem to apply. Thanks for a fantastic list rbennett. PS that's also my name Richard Bennett, what's the chances.

So according to the list its oxygen sensors out of range on both banks. Whats the chances that I have lost multiple sensors concurrently. I see another MAF cleaning in my future.

Thats the trick of reading the CEL's correctly, mutliple failures typicaly have a single source. Not that I am any expert in this topic.

Nice to see another bennett out there, few and far between!

Richard

Run it over to the shop when you have a chance, and we can check everything with the PST2.

Typically when you see O2 sensors bad on both banks, it is a MAF sensor problem, not an O2. Sometimes cleaning them does not work.

2000 BOXSTERS HAVE AN UPDATED MAF SENSOR AND YOU WILL NEED TO REFLAH THE DME.
THOSE FAULTS INDCIATE THAT THE MIXTURE IS OUTSIDE OF TOLERANCE. THIS COULD BE TOO LEAN (VACUM LEAK FUEL PRESSURE ECT ) OR RICH USUALLY MAF PROBLEM. NEED TO KNOW THE FR AND RKAT VALUES TO KNOW IF ITS RICH OR LEAN

Well I gambled and I replaced the MAF sensor, it cost me $250 off the Internet, Turns out that the sensor part number 996 606 124 00, Bosch part 0 280 218 009 has been updated and superceded by Bosch 0 280 218 055. It seems the updated ones are more tolerant to dirt. Go figure.

That fixed the problem. The nice thing was that I didn't even have to have the Check Engine Light re-set. It went off on its own after a few days.

It was a gamble, but I would have had to pay the dealership $250 for a diagnostic plus some outrageous price for parts and labor, never mind the inconvenience of getting it there and waiting, so the gamble paid off.

Its interesting that you can still buy the original part number and its the same price as the updated one.

Its nice to get lucky once in a while

the updated part requires a reflash to run right, you will need a dealer to do that

2001 model base I had an engine light also , so I went to Advanced Auto parts, displayed the P0430. I went on two more tanks of Mobile gas. I had a three hour straight high speed trip. Engine light went off?! Hoping for the best!
