Default track tire sizes help

I have a 1999 986 with a spare set of stock wheels- 17x7, 17x8.5. What would be the appropriate tire sizes for Kuhmo or Toyo R compound tires?
TIA

Stock sizes are:

205/50x17 - Front
255/40x17 - Rear

Optional front: 225/45x17 which should work fine with your 7" wide front rim.

From what I see you need to bump up to the 225's to get a decent selection.

Default Tire sizes

The best autocross tire set up is 245's all around on the Boxster. But, for me, 225 fronts and 255 rears would be the way to go. Also, get a good performance alignment.... 0 toe and .7 neg camber. This will compensate for the factory builtin understeer....Best of luck
