Boxster Cover
I am looking for a Cover for my Boxster 98.
Where is the best place to get one and how much should I expect to pay?
I have 2 small children with Toys in the garage that I want to protect the car.
Please let me know.

My favorite has been the factory cover. I got it from Performance Products. It really is tailor fit along all lines of the car, and has nice felt type lining on high rub areas. It is also silver to reflect away heat. It is not that super thin silver stuff. But, it's not all that thick to prevent door dings. If I were using it in the garage for ding protection, I might get some 1/4-1/2" rubber mats and tape them to the outside of the cover somehow.

You can also buy those really cheap air mattress type pool rafts and fill them with air and either hang them from the ceiling of your garage with hooks or fix them to the cover somehow for better coverage.

I actually melted my factory cover once. But, until that one time, the cover would snap around the back of the car and down to the exhaust. This particular time, I had been driving hard, got to my office in a rush and threw on the cover fast. I think it was a combination of how hot the muffler got and how quickly I put it on. Also, it did not melt on the tips, but where the cover slipped between the top of the tips and the body and pulled in and touched the muffler itself. I'm now more careful after a hot run and haven't had that problem again.

Reminds me of the time I went out in the garage to find my Son, then 3 years old helping me clean the Fairlady 280Z I had shipped here while stationed in Japan. He had pretty much cleaned the entire right side of the car with a wire brush. I thanked him for his help and we all lived. No car cover is kid proof. Alarm the door going into the garage. At least you can start running that way and be the first to see what they did. Good luck.

Yeah what he said^
Storing a fine German auto and toys in the same square is a recipe for trouble.
Car covers on dark cars not a good move. Unless you intend to invest in a Porter Cable polisher from Lowe's and spend a few hours polishing out all the marring/swirling. That car has to be CLEAN each time the cover goes on other wise the inside of the cover get filthy and its like sandpaper on your paint each time you slide it across the the paint surface.
I myself use a softop cover. Best $50 I ever spent.
Magnetic dent guards are also a good idea.
