Zeintop !

Whenever I see posts about hardtop additions, I just remember the scene I saw at a track event this year...someone went "off", hit the tire wall, and totalled the car. When we got there to pull the car onto a flat bed, we saw that the hard top had shifted upon impact to the point that any passenger would have been "harmed" to say the least. I certainly would not have wanted to be a driver or passenger in that car (even with a helmet on)...that's how bad it was. I question whether these tops (factory or aftermarket) have ever been crash tested. Just my 2 cents.

I couldn't wait any longer. Bought a factory top. Had a bugger of a time getting it on, seems the top shipped with 986 hmounting hardware. After that was straightened out, all is well. Shipped, hardware, rolling carrier and installation <$4k.
Ready for winter now and no, Schnell, I never considered it a safety enhancement in any stretch of the imagination.

For those still willing to wait, they finally have a US distributorship.

....and it doesn't really make the Boxter look like a Cayman in my estimation. The Cayman's lines are far more graceful, flowing. This looks a little bland and "generic" (lines wise.) To my mind, not what a Porsche is about.

It's certainly interesting. However, there are two main issues that would prevent me from going with this; 1. Price is too high. and 2. I personally don't like the fact that it looks so much like you are trying to make your Boxster look like a Cayman. I would actually be much more interested if the Cayman wasn't already out there with this look. Think I prefer the factory hardtop.

yea its nuts, especially since we all bought the box for the convertible top, so in my opinion, if it didnt come with it no point of getting one, my car came with colormatched top so im ok, but if it didnt i couldnt justify spending extra money on it since its really not needed. the fit on it is really nice too
but 5 grand is a lot of money, but for 5 grand it sure transforms a box nicely, i wouldnt mind having it, but yea...
