Default winter jaunt

I'm looking to drive a boxster from Denver to Portland within the next week or so. I'll watch the weather forecasts, but do any of you familiar with the area have suggestions on which route is best to avoid the potential for snow and nasty conditions in the passes -- #84 up to the gorge, or #80 to Sacramento and up? Or would you ship it?

What kind of tires do you have on?
Even if the weather is nice, there could be snow on the roads in the high places and that might not be a lot of fun. I was just in Telluride this past weekend. Beautiful and sunny...but tons of snow on the roads.
Could be risky....

Get proper tires for the snow and do the adventure. Get back with us and tell us all about it. Mike

I believe there are standard 17'' Continental tires on the car. I don't plan to change them or do any winter driving beyond this trip.
