Help - I have a 2000 Boxter and the cable to the rear trunk release has broken. I have the manual and it talks of an emergency release somewhere behind the brake light but I cannot access that area with all the engine tin, and plastic shrouds. Anybody know how I can get the trunk open so I can determine my repair plan on the cable?

 

What about the remote release? I believe that's separate from the cable release so it should work.

Have you taken all of the engine covers off to try and reach the emergency release? I don't know if you're talking about the regular covers being in the way or something else inside the engine bay.
