1999 Boxster for sale w/New Motor & Many Extras
Julie and I are "downsizing" our auotmotive investments, so it's time to say goodbye to my beloved Boxster. It's in excellent shape. The only problem I've had was "the big one"...motor failure. So now it has a new motor from Porsche (w/warranty). Never had any RMS issues. Clutch is good. Top is good. Check out all the extras! Hate to see it go....

If you know anybody looking, please pass on the info!
Thanks so much!

Thanks Tom, but not at the moment. I'm trying to sell the car as a "complete package". If somebody comes along and wants to offer me less w/out the hardtop, I'll consider it. I'll be sure to post here if that happens.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Just "posting" to get it back to the top of the page...I'm "bumping" it back up to the top to keep it in front of readers.
But thanks for your "free bump".

After careful (carful) weighing I have decided to look at newer Honda S2000's instead of older Boxster. I will miss the marque, but I will not miss the maintenance headaches.
Again, that is a beautiful car, I hope that you can get what it is worth.
Here in Northern New Jersey, I am seeing prices dropping rapidly. I checked out a 2002 Boxster S for $36,000 one months ago with 17,000 miles , it is now selling for $32,000. Another Porsche dealer that was selling a 2001 Boxster S for $28,000 (43,000 miles) with a supposedly long list of interest is still unsold (it was pretty rough and had many scratches and chips), but another 2000 Boxster S for $35,000 (8,000) miles is still unsold. A private selling in my hometown has a 2003 model for $32,000 with less than 10,000 miles.
I am very leery at buying one of these machines and finding out that it was a sleeved motor and since it is out of warranty I am out of luck. I don't know if those third party extended warranties are any good. Does anyone have any experience with them?

FYI the motor in my Boxster is under factory warranty from Porsche for two years, not a third party warranty. Personally, I wouldn't trust a third party warranty for something major. I've never had experience with them, but any time I've done research for them on an older 911, they just weren't worth it.
Also, if I recall correctly, all the motors are "sleeved" motors. I believe they all have a liner in their cylinders. I believe it was the sleeving process that was done poorly on some of the cars. But I better not say anything more in case I'm wrong...
I hear what you're saying about prices. Fortunately, I'm not in the position of "have to sell". I'm aware that my asking price is a bit high, but for that price you get a car with a new motor and many nice extras (re: $$$) that when added up, as they say, would cost you more to "build your own".
Truthfully, I don't expect to sell to a current Porsche owner nor do I expect to sell to anyone accross the country. But I'd be foolish to pass up "free advertising" offered by this site and Pelican. Besides, I'm hoping to "network" a little bit...in case anyone's buddies are looking for a Boxster, you can say "hey, I know of a really nice one with a new motor!!". (..note the enthusiasm you'll use as denoted by the extra exlamation mark.. )
