Club Sport Boxster Coupe Question
I tried to place a deposit for a Club Sport and the dealer contacted the regional rep who said that there are no known plans to import it. Does anyone have any information to confirm or deny that statement?

Porsche typically remains mum baout things until they annouce it all over. I put a deposit down on the Clubsport last month. The GM said that Porsche has not annouced anything yet but was going to make a boxster product that would "put the passion back in Porsche."
If they don't import it to the US I will probably import it as a nonstreet legal track car. If not, I'll appply my deposit to a 997C4s or the like.

There are two Porsche dealers in town and one wants $500 and the other $1,000. But both say that it is totally refundable. I put a deposit on a Boxster in July of 1993 and got the car April of 1997, without any problems.
I don't know of any code for it other than just calling it a Club Sport Boxster Coupe.

Check out the new link for the "Cayman S". I hope by the "S" designation there will eventually be a "base" model. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford the "S" if they place it between the Boxster S and 911....

Interesting how the displacement is the same as the old 996 as well as the horsepower (well 5 HP less than the 1999 996).
I'm starting to get excited here

A sign of genius marketing is something that at first is so unfashionable that nobody likes it, but then evolves into something tres cool...
Time will tell if "Cayman" does this. But I must say... it actually is growing on me... Two weeks ago I hated it with a passion. Now I can sorta say it's OK.

Porsche released the Cayenne in its S and Turbo variants first. Only later, after all the magazines raved about performance, did they roll out the Volkswagen V6 base model.
Probably the same thinking at work here... Launch the Cayman in its S variant first to establish the brand, then follow with the lower-performing base model later.
