Cool I've searched, but no luck?--newbie

hey guys,
so i just converted from s4 land and purchased a 2001 boxster S. So far, i am real happy, but have couple "easy" questions? Usually, i'm not one to complain about that little nick or humming nack.....but since this is the first week, i figure i ask the experts:

1. car seems to "shake" around 60 mph (but then eases off to smoother at 75mph)--what you think, alignment/balancing??

2. when the radio is off, i can hear the clutch "squeak" every time i press it (small but annoying). THEN, i hear a "click". So the sound is "squeak", "click"(as it goes all the way in)

Other than that...this thing is like a sportbike on 4 wheels. Stoked. 100%

Help?
Thanks....and btw, I did stfa

1. Balancing, definitely. A will have less weight on the steering than a FWD or AWD car, so it's very sensitive, especially to balanced tires

2. Maybe all it needs is some lube... The click is the silly switch that prevents starting the car without the clutch pushed in. Dive under the dash, wrap a zip-tie around the switch - presto, no click.

3. REnnlist Rules, but for boxster stuff go to www.ppbb.com

I know exactly what the problem is with the squeek. Both my Boxsters had the same problem. Take it to any dealer if you're still in the warranty. The problem is the spring. It used to drive me carzy! It needs to be replaced. Porsche has a new design replacement.

The vibrating sound like the tires need balancing.

Hi Matt,

Welcome!!
The "Squeek" on the clutch could be the release bearing, no use worring about it unless you're going to replace the clutch, in that case it's part of the clutch kit.

The vibration on the wheel is almost certainly due to a front tyre issue. Like other people have mentioned first thing would be to get the ballancing checked. I would also double check the wear on the front tyres to make sure your wheel alingnment / geometry is not out and wore the tyres uneven. If they are worn uneven unfortunetly this means new fronts...While you're down there check the correct tyre pressure (there is a sticker in the front boot lid)

Great buy!! All the very best with the car.
