Default New to the boxster. Waterpump / therm change - how do I bleed.

Hey all,
Just like the title I'm new to the Boxster and could use some help. Have a 97 and it developed a coolant leak. Upon investigation it was coming from the Water pump shaft. Learned all about service mode and how stuffed the motor is in there and all is well When I removed the old pump the shaft had a ton of side to side play. Explained the leak and the strange noise coming from the front side of the motor. New pump, thermostat and hoses all installed and no leaks, or noise. Now comes how do I fill this thing.

I read about rear up, fill, rev, etc. I did this and all seemed well. Drove the car locally and she was happy for a while. sat at 180degrees then suddenly shot up. Started blinking also. Some things cross my mind. Therm opened and with air in the system the level dropped and got hot or there is an air bubble in there. Filled some more since the res was almost empty and same scenario.

I did not know until today there is a bleed valve under the protective cover by the filler. I assumed my car did not have one not expecting there would be a cover over it. Have not touched it. I did bleed off pressure from the main cap after she got hot and could hear bubbling.

I also have a vacuum coolant bleeder from the 997 group of guys but have never used it. I have a monster compressor but do not know how to use it on a Boxster or any car for that matter.

Any advice, comments or comedic snide remarks welcomed. . Thank in advance
Cheers Mike

Bleed, fill, bleed. repeat. A tip I saw in one of the videos was using a flashlight. Take the cap off and shine the light in and you will see your level better than if you try looking in from the outside.
