Default Porsche Hi-Fi sound system?

How does this sound? Does it compare to the Bose system at all?
Thanks

I'm not an audiophile, but when my brother test drove Boxsters last year, he was insistant on the Bose system. (He listened to them both). I'm fine with Porsche "hi-fi". But he's more of a music man, so he needed the Bose option.

The Bose system is very nice if you want some "Bass" with that audio passage...

the bose actually has too MUCH bass

i find the optimal settings for the bose system in a boxster in order to get close to original audio are:

-5 Bass
+5 Treble

Balance: - 5 To Back
Fader: 0

AP: ON

If you know anything about how a real audio system should sound, you will hate Porsche's "Hi-Fi" (they actually call it that?) system.

It sucks.

If it's got no highs, and got now lows, it must be a Bose.

For the money ... you can do SOOOO much better aftermarket that it's not even funny .

Get the car with the standard HiFi sound system (2 door and 2 dash speakers with amp in the trunk) Get the rear audio compartment upgrade (4 more 3.5's behind your head)

Swap out the amp for a real amp .... all the speakers for Focals , MA's , Eclipse or Infinities (or other aftermarkets of your choice) Throw in a Kenwood WooX in your passenger footwell and you'll smoke the BOSE and have an extra $grand in your pocket still to play with.

I'm currently working on a new twin 6.5" sub for my BoxS that will reside high in the passenger footwell. Upgraded speakers to Eclipse and put an infinity Sub in the trunk for now ... the system sounds great.

Moogle,
I agree about too much bass. I'll give your settings a try.
