Default MAF Sensor cause no start?

Would it also cause a bouncing idle when it finally does start?

If so, what is the approximate cost of a replacement?

TIA,
Adrial

Yes, and yes.

Not to much. You can replace it yourself, easy to do. Then bring it in for the codes to be reset.

So it would throw a check engine light?

Check for the company EASE Diagnostics. They sell several PDA/Lap Top programs and hardware to run diagnostics , read fault codes and reset the light. Not very expensive and easy to use. You can replace the MAF and reset your self. Good luck.

Here's a superb link (sorry ir also in Rennlist somewhere--haven't come across it):
http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...=15&#entry3709

It should tell you EVERYTHING about replacing the MAF yourself---which I've heard of a specific dealer that soaked someone for $480+ to "diagnose" and change.

Woudl the C-E light reset itself after several cxycles (after putting in a new MAF)?

Dont think so. In fact just an aside. If you have a CEL you may have to drive 50 to 100 miles, after resetting , with more than half a tank to ping the ECU enough to allow a smog check. Oh, one more little tid bit. If you deside to put a set of plugs in other than those specified by Porshe you may get a CEL as well. Make sure they are "OEM type". I know, sounds crazy but true. Put a set of Bosche platinum 4s in a ford and learned the hard way.
