Work is going slowly due to a variety of factors, but I’ve enjoyed every minute despite having to put the braces back on a couple of times to put the car back on the ground. 🙄😁

Other than the fact that it makes for easier oil changes, the primary reason is that it eliminates the bypass and ensures that 100% of the oil is filtered and nothing can go back into the engine. It's common for the bypass which is located in the bottom of the plastic housing to open at cold start and allow debris that settles in the bottom of the filter to go into the engine.

Are you aware of 986forum.com? Lots of information there. For the teardown and rebuild I found this very informative.

Progress
Progress! RMS is definitely seeping oil. I may swap that out too before I close it back up.
I’m currently working on fabricating the cam locking tools, after which point I will do the actual bearing swap. Clutch is low but still has some life left in it. I’m trying to avoid dumping too much money into this before I know if the engine will survive, so I’m probably going to leave that for another day. 🤞🤞

Tips:
- QuickJack has been fantastic
- I tried leaving the axles attached to the wheels because I had trouble getting the axle nuts off. They were ridiculously tight. Don’t - it’s too much in the way while trying to drop the trans. Get an impact rated 32mm socket and long extension from harbor freight. Use a cheater bar on your breaker bar. Support the socket ext with a jack stand.
- Expect exhaust removal to be a pain. Trans jack was helpful to get the muffler off.

I ordered the 5000TL Quick Jack a few days ago. Should I get those taller adapters shown in your picture? Those are the SUV adapters. Right? Do you come up some on the jack without those and then put the car on a floor jack and put those adapters on? I'm assuming theres' not enough clearance to have the adapter and jack in place at the beginning.
