Default Remote Coding needed for Boxster Odometer

I have 2002 Boxster S and my LCD screen the speedometer cluster broke recently. My local shop could ot find anyone that was capable of repairing it so they instructed me to buy a used cluster, which I did and they installed it for me. Now I have a working cluster, but the speedometer is showing the wrong mileage and needs to be recoded. The shop told me that there are some people that are able to do this remotely and suggested I check on this forum. Can anyone help? I actually need to INCREASE the mileage, not decrease it.

Why not just document it and put a notarized statement in the glove compartment and fully disclose it when you sell. Not as if you are trying to defraud someone.

OTOH, can't a dealer do this. They would have to if they replaced the cluster.

I called the Porsche dealer and they told me they could not do it. I will definitely keep documentation, would just prefer to have it corrected bc I think it will scare ppl when I go to sell it

Odo-Pro Odometer Reprogramming | Mileage Correction Services – Odo-Pro

I had them correct an odometer for me last summer on my 2000 base Boxster when I switched from a black to alum-look cluster.

Fast turn around. No issues.

Just follow the directions on their website. Easy-peasy.

I did this when I put a 996 cluster in my 02 track car. It's not for the faint of heart to DIY it. You need a device that can read the eprom on the cluster. Once you have the binary file, you need to locate the mileage location which is written in two locations. You then need to write the modified file to the new cluster and you should be good. I also changed the VIN to the correct one. I think I went into this in more detail on 986forum.com. I did this 3 or 4 years ago so I forget the details.
