Default 986 starting difficulties

My 1998 986 (2.5 @ 100k miles) has developed a starting problem. When cold (like first start of the day) she fires up perfectly. When warm right (or a couple of minutes) after turning off, same. When srarting say 20-30 min after turning off, it takes several tries befores she fires up. She cranks ok (battery's good), but won't fire up until the 3rd or 4th try (even cranking a few seconds each try). No OBD errors. Once fired up all's perfect.

Could be the crankshaft position sensor. They start to fail when they get hot, then work when they cool off.
