Default Are These Rims Too Big?

Hi everyone, I’m looking at buying a 2000 boxster S, and noticed the wheels seem pretty big. If I had to guess, I’d say they’re at least 19” and don’t seem to have spacers as they’re quite close to touching the wheel well. Would you recommend going smaller? Thank you.

I’m not an expert but visually they look fine.I can’t see the width though. The front especially,if the are too wide you’ll have issues.Im sure you know but less rubber the more of the road you’re going to feel.Great looking car!

I'd check with the dealer. My opinion is that you want the wheels sized for what Porsche intended when they designed the car.

OK. Help me here...

Less rubber you'll feel more of the road? I thought it was the other way around. That isn't reconciling with my limited sensibilities.

I’m sorry, the thinner the wall thickness of the tire the more bumps your going to feel if driving on normal roads. On the track it will be great

Default 19 x 8.5, 19 x 10

The Tire Rack offers O.Z. (Italy) wheel and tire packages in 18" and 19" fitments for the 986 S. 19" x 8.5" front, and 19" x 10" rear. Your fitment is probably a correct "plus size" aftermarket upgrade.

A bit dark, but they look like 18 inch Sport Design wheels that someone painted all black.. They were optional on later years of the 986.
