Default Underside engine cleaning at the carwash????

So I've acquired a 2001 Boxster Base that I'm working on getting all of the maintenance caught up on. The previous owner lived on a dirt road and between the naturally oily-ness of porsche flat sixes and a dusty environment, the car has a coat of "oil mud" caked onto it. It also stinks up my garage.

I don't really have a place to clean it at the house. Is it ok to drive it to the carwash, spray on some degreaser and try to spray it off on low pressure?

Will the engine being hot cause any problems?

It won't hurt the engine, but the carwash owner might not be thrilled.
