Default slow acceleration in tiptronic 986. feeling defeated

I am getting frustrated. I got my 1999 2.5 L boxster as a project ..... i have replaced the plugs and plug sleeves, AOS, airfilter, idle control valve, I used a smoke vacuum tester and there is no leaks. car runs , idles excellent. but driving it . it feels very sluggish. I have never driven a boxster so i dont know what it should be like and dont expect it to be a rocketship but it just doesnt seam right. I have no engine lights on and just passed Connecticut emissions yesterday. I have ordered a new fuel filter but in all my years of expeirence other then boats changing a fuel filter has done very little.

What else can i look for or try? everything i find says mass air flow sensor but i did the unplug test and it drives the same . feeling defeated

Can't say just from your subjective "feels".

Try to find another 2.5 in your area and drive it to compare. Or ask that owner to drive yours. I never felt the 2.5 was sluggish and mine was a TIP.

The problem is that acceleration is such a subjective thing, and the Boxster is not a rocket sled; it's a corner carver. I had a '99 with a 5-speed and my daughter has an '01 with Tip and they both feel fast enough to me. I'm not expecting a lot from a standing start, but I can sure maintain some momentum in a turn.

There is a 99 2.5 in Bridgeport that is on the hartford craigslist. Go drive it. Dealer. You are driving yours over to look at it for a friend.

Even when I drive a Prius, I was seldom left at a light because I was paying attention. A 2.5 is not going to snap your head back.

I ended up cleaning throttle body which was pretty dirty, replaced fuel filter seams a bit better still feels like its lacking some. i have new coils coming. but now i have a vibration in the front end . when i turn right it goes away but noticeable while turning left or veering left. I have replaced outer tierods seamed to get better but still noticelable, I have ordered inner tie rods and strut bearings. any one else experience something similar?

From my experience, a vibration that goes away in a turn is wheel bearings.
