Confused Turtle

So my 99 986 has an issue with only the driver side where it will lock but then doesn't unlock sometimes. It takes quote a few times of hitting the unlock to get it to open. Never works on the first try. This includes the fob, using the key in the door and the unlock button in the car. Where should I start with diagnosing this? Or is it as simple as getting a new door lock latch?

Lock the car
unlock the car
press in/bump on the driver door
Pull handle to open door

Does it open now?

I legit thought this was a joke but yes, it does unlock first try that way. Is this a common thing that happens?

It's the latch, needs to be adjusted some. Have had it happen on various cars including a 986.
