Default Question for the Experts

My trip odometer when I am driving reads 49 and below that number is the word Limit . Below that is MPH. WHEN I stop and turn off the car it will give me the mileage for the trip but when I drive the trip odometer is 49 and below that Limit. Anyone know what this is? Thanks. The car is new to me and I can’t find reference to this in the manual.

Might help if you gave us make, model and year. Maybe even country.

Figured this one out by myself. Went carefully through the manual and on page 92 forward read all about the onboard computer and the operating lever that controls all. Not very well explained but with a little practice on the lever a lot of info can be displayed. The morale is to read the manual!
