I have 2001 Boxster 986 base model. What is the trick to getting that long bolt out at the 3:00 position on the water pump? I have tried a swivel socket (maybe I am doing it wrong). I have it started but after an hour of just hand turning it, I can see a few threads. Must be an easier way. Any help to a beginner garage guy.

I found it easiest to remove all waterpump bolts from underneath the car. First time taking the bolt out from above (inside the cabin side) it took for ever to get the bolts out.
Small swiveled ratchet with short extension helps.

Porsche service manual says to use a swivel socket, which is also how I got it out. However, since you're having trouble with that method, the person in this youtube video has an alternate method for getting to that bolt that may give you some ideas. Info you're looking for is at 4:40.
