A/C very little air coming out of the vents
Good Morning All!
I recently acquired a 1998 Boxster with 64,000 miles, for my wife, as a weekend car. I have driven it mostly since we got it, so it may become mine!!!
For the last few years it sat undriven, as its previous owner couldn’t drive it. So my first thing was to work on changing fluids, and go from there.
I noticed some issues with the wipers and headlights, and the A/C system not blowing air which lead me to replacing the ignition switch, based upon reading different posts and videos from u tube. The new ignition cleared up the light and wiper concerns (Yay!!!) but it didn’t help the air flow issue.
So Here’s the issue: I can barely feel any air coming out of the center/side/floor vents when the blower is on it’s highest settings, I can hear/feel the blower motor running as I turn up or down the volume control. I can also feel a temperature change when going from low to hi temperature, it’s just with barely any air coming out of the vents. I have checked the fuses and relays and both seem ok.
I have attempted to look at what I believe is some sort of actuators on the bottom of the A/C and Heater, one has a green “cap” and the other is Pink. I noticed that the green one does turn at various adjustments of the system, however the pink on never moves no matter what adjustment is made. I have attached pictures(Sorry for the pic quality), and am hoping someone can give some advice/direction as to what the problem may be.
Part numbers, would also be great
I’m willing to do my own wrench turning, to an extent, as it will allow me to learn about the 986.
This green thing turns
This pink one hasn’t moved
Thanks in advance

Recently I did the foam repair on my 98. I pulled the entire center dash fascia including the two snap-in side pieces holding a variety of buttons, temperature control unit, my single din head unit, my CD holder, and the storage cubby. I wasn't looking for the parts you're referencing instead focusing on removing foam and coveing the swiss holes. In any event...
You pull all of the front dash so that you can see back into the doors... then activate the top... middle... lower... settings and see if those doors don't move. That's where I'd start. A little digging on the forums and you'll find the instructions on the foam repair from behind the center dash. You get in there and hunt down the reason you're not getting air directed to the vents. Report back.

I have a 2000 boxster and have had the same issue since I got the car in 2019, air blows hot and cold but doesn't blow hard and blower motor works on all speeds and you can hear it blowing hard but doesn't make it through the vents. Please tell me you found the issue and what you did.

Black9862.7, do you have any foam bits trapped in the vents? Do you have any issues with hot and cold mixing? The foam covering on the metal panel comes off over time and can clog the vents. Another side is when you put on the AC it is not very cool. This suggests the foam is gone and heat is mixings with the AC. Can you confirm that your issues is the flow of the air?
