I found this listing for a 2009 Boxster S pdk:

Cons on this one: some damage (scrapes) on the left rear and not the color (blue) I exactly want.

Thoughts?
I stumbled across that one too as it's a blue I do like. Other side of the country for me so not likely worth it, plus we were aiming for January anyway. I'd ask for maintenance records and get a PPI for sure as I'm not certain the car has actually been taken care of.

I have a 5-speed and a Tip. The Tip isn't as engaging to drive as the standard, but it isn't bad.

We have had a 2003 Boxster since new and it's been a terrific car. the only major repair was to the drivers window mechanism. It didn't retract as it should slightly when the door handle is pulled. I think it cost $900 at the dealer this year to replace the mechanism. It's hard to complain about this after 16+ trouble free years. No IMS problems.

So my only advice is to check the window operation.

The window regulators are an issue with the 986 and 996, but fortunately they are around $120 and about a 2 hr DIY job to replace.

I think that's pretty expensive. The price of not being able to do for yourself. An Indie shop might charge half that. Older Boxsters are fine for decent shade tree mechanics, for those unable or unwilling to do work on them, they can be money pits.
