Default What type of engine?

I know the engine is a flat 6. But was curious (and I tried searching). Is the flat 6 a boxer engine? Or is it just a horizontal flat 6? (Less than 180degrees)

Yes. The old air cooled and modern water cooled flat sixes in the 911, boxster and caymans are all true 'boxer' engines.

A boxer engine is a flat engine where pairs of pistons move in opposition to each other and have ignition at the same time. This causes the engine to be extremely well balanced. A non-boxer flat engine have pairs of cylinders moving in the same direction and sharing the same crank pin. These engines are not well balanced.

aka: horizontally-opposed.

Another benefit of this engine type is a potentially lower center of gravity.
