have run a 97 boxster, up to 260,000 k,s and am thinking of a newer car. boxster or cayman. going to an 09 will dodge the ims bullet, but i am now hearing about cylinder scoring, any thoughts???

From a lot of reading and talking to some smart people, I’m starting to think the 06-08 cars are the real bargain. You get the robust IMS bearing, and don’t have the myriad of niggling issues associated with direct injection. Oil OEMs are having oil contamination issues due to DFI.

not for track work its not. The oiling issues are a real problem on the m96/97 series engines. The 9a1 is a far superior design.
