Wind Stop/Shield
Hi,
With the better weather approaching over here I have (simple) a question that you long time Boxster owners might know the answer to.
In your experience, is the rear Windstop sucure for top down motoring at ALL speeds?
Theres no mention of keeping the speed down in the Handbook, (but then they wouldnt would they?).
Its just that I'm surprised two little plastic clips can cope with that sort of wind buffeting. and I dont want to see £250 worth of glass dissapearing down the road behind me
Thanks In Advance
Luke

My understanding is those two little clips do break easily, but not from high speed driving. For instance, my windstop won't hold around and above 60 mph because one of the tabs just won't grab too well (I think it was broken by the p.o.). So, I've been driving without it since last summer and to be truthful, I don't miss it. Of course, my hair is almost military short!
But to further answer your question, I'm sure it would say so in the owner's manual if you can't go above certain speeds.

If the clips are not broken they will hold the clear plastic windstop in place a high speed. You are more likely to have one of the black mesh parts fly out. The plastic window does flex back and forth at high speeds but it stays in place. Jeff

The Windstop will stay in place, you need to becareful removing it, as the plastic tabs will break if you do this wrong.
For those of you that have broken plastic windstop tab, you can replace just the tabs.
Cheaper then getting a new windstop

I have driven with it at speeds fast enough to be put in jail (120+) with no problems. Obviously you can't go that fast for very long. I seem to have lost more hair since owning the Boxster. As long as the clips are secure you should not have any problems.

I had problems when one tab was slightly broken, but had that fixed under warranty. Since then, no problems at any speed (and drive with the top down 99% of the time.
