Default Car not recognizing key...

2003 Boxster. Key will not unlock the doors or trunks remotely. Hasn't worked since I bought it six months ago. The LED on the remote blinks but nothing works. Car alarm works. I've tried a new battery and re-sinking the remote per the manuel but no luck.

OK. You begged the question: What have you been doing for 6 months?

The key will start the car just can't remotely lock the doors.

Sounds like a problem with the transmitter’s circuit board or switches. If you are good at soldering on circuit boards there are diy’s to assist. I had the same problem a few years ago and ended up going to the dealer for a new transmitter and programming.

I'm afraid there is no DIY or other easy road when it comes to re-programming these keyfobs. My best advice is to get another key programmed at the dealership. Expect to pay around $400 - $500. They may even be able to resurrect your old key.
