Powerchip

Do a search here - there's a great deal on a wide range of chips. Without knowing the model year/type/trans of Boxster, there's not much to discuss.
In general, forced induction motors see the most impact from chipping. High compression NA motors won't see much, if any, positive change in power outputs.
My preference for chips is UTZ. Delicious!

I have a 2002 base Boxster. Powerchip claims to increase HP from 217 to 236 and torque from 192 to 207 (the .pdf file they sent me actually has comparisons at various rpm.) They also claim a reduction in 0-60 time from 6.6 seconds to 6.1. Thay don't make any claims re: quarter mile performance.

Yeah. I've seen & heard plenty of similar claims. Maybe I'm a bit dense, but every (and I mean every) time I chat with folks who make such claims I just can't follow their reasoning. In the case of the 02 and earlier Boxster motor, the useful control surfaces are ignition timing and overriding the air fuel mix. I can rationalize some small movement in peak Hp & Torque, but no improvement across the board. To do that, you'll have to step up to intake (not air filter, but true intake), exhaust, chip, and more - more $, to be sure, but it's real useable power. Search here & at other Boxster Boards (hint, hint) for the lowdown on what to do. I have driven a well modified '01 - and it was a hoot! Good luck,
J

I've had a Powerchip installed for my 986 S - the performance gain is definitely noticeable, with out question. The Gold93 program that they provide, for 93 and up octane fuels, provides an additional 20lb.ft. to 21lb.ft. torque through 3500rpm to 5500rpm range and 22hp at 6000rpm. Rev limiter has been increased to 7500.
Recent dyno results show around 285hp (with intake)
It' honestly feels like I'm driving a different car.

The "magic" words you use are "chip" and "Intake" together. Modify one with the other, and you'll get changes. Modify one without the other, and you get $$ spent!
Enjoy your car (sounds like you do) - spring can't get here soon enough!
