Default Anybody see the new Excellence?

The Boxster/S was ranked 5th in a list of Porsches ALLTIME best "driver's cars" by a handfull of Porsche gurus and celebrities. One even ranked it number 1 in his own poll (I believe it was Karl Ludvigson - ?sp).

Not bad for a "Porsche with panties", huh?

Karl Ludvigsen is the author of Excellence Was Expected - the definitive book of Porsche history. He ranked the Boxster S #1 on his all-time list.

Quote: "It is a masterpiece."

When the dust settles, these cars will be prized.

If the Boxster S ranked number 5, just imagine if the 3.6L was standard...Just a thought....

There would probably be fewer 911s around! But Porsche knew this...thus the intentionally lower powered Boxsters. Sad, really....

I would agree with that, too. It's just nice to see experts include the "lowly" Boxster in with the "great ones". I guess that's my whole point to the original post.

Has anyone stuffed a 3.8L GT3 engine in a Boxster? Hmmmm. That would be scary fun.

I have a friend at Porsche who once told me, "Hold on to your car. In thirty years, people will look back and say 'What? These were actually CHEAPER than 911s?'"

The Boxster is a classic sports car, definitely in keeping with the best of Porsche tradition.
