Fabspeed Motorsport | Not all aftermarket catalytic converters are the same
What kind of aftermarket catalytic converters do you have? Simply put, if they’re not HJS they’re not the best.
Fabspeed Motorsport utilizes German-imported 200-cell HD Sport Catalytic Converters, made by the world’s leading manufacturer of catalysts for Motorsports applications, HJS. In collaboration with the DMSB (Germany's governing body for motor racing) and the FIA, HJS developed a catalyst concept that makes it possible to offer the right catalytic converters for every conceivable application in motorsport and street performance driving.
The HJS German 200 cell tri-metallic Racing Catalytic Converters, flow 93-95% of a straight pipe, while guaranteeing the emissions limits stipulated for emissions tests are complied with. Essentially, no pesky CEL light to worry about and we guarantee it!
HJS is one of the most well-respected names in the catalytic converter industry, and for good reason. They made in Germany and are specifically designed to be durable enough to handle the rigors and abuse of running at top speed on the Autobahn. Fabspeed utilizes HJS cats due to their proven durability and unmatched performance. One may choose to utilize cheaper grade catalytic converters to save money, but premature failure is very common once these cats are subjected to the abuse of high-horsepower cars and spirited driving.
So what catalytic converters does your aftermarket exhaust use? Are they genuine HJS? If you have any questions about HJS cats or our products that utilize them, don’t hesitate to PM me or respond here.
If you are interested in purchasing HJS cats themselves, we can make that happen as Fabspeed is the exclusive HJS distributor for North America, including the United States (USA), Canada, and Mexico.

This what a Fabspeed cat looks after just 9500 miles.
Note the rust as well as the cracked insert.
On a side note, we are running HJS cats in our E36 and E30 M3 track cars for more than a decade, without any issues.
Also note that the optical appearance of the insert shown by fabspeed does not conform with the insert utilized in my catalyst converter.

Check out our more recent video showcasing why we strictly use HJS.
For years we have been HJS's only licensed seller/distributor in North and South America. While there are many others that make quality guarantees similar, there is no one that makes a product 1/2 as good!

HJS Emission Technology is the world’s leading manufacturer of catalysts for motorsports applications. All manufacturers active in the world of automobile motorsports use HJS catalytic converter technology. More than 20 years of experience and constant further developments ensure that HJS products are of the highest quality and are always competitive.
In collaboration with the DMSB (Germany's governing body for motor racing) and the FIA, HJS developed a catalyst concept that makes it possible to offer the right catalytic converters for every conceivable application in motorsports and street performance driving. HJS has developed special catalysts that comply with the technical regulations of Formula 3, the international and national touring car series, the World Rally Championship and Kit Car Championship series and had them homologated by the FIA.
HJS's universal tuning catalysts have been developed on the basis of motorsport catalysts. With 200 cpsi (cells per square inch), these catalysts are the right building block on which to create custom-designed exhaust systems.
The high-flow cones ensure the best possible exhaust flow into and through the catalyst and the best possible performance.
HJS tuning German catalysts guarantee that the emissions limits stipulated for emissions tests are complied with and they can also be used in vehicles kitted out with EOBD.
