Default Starter for 986 - 1998

Looking for a starter.
The parts list catalogue is not clear to me; does all these part numbers work?
986 604 104 00 (1.2 kW)
996 604 103 00 (1.8 kW)
996 604 104 00 (1.7kW)

If the 996 604 xxx fits as good, they seems to be a smarter choise since they are more powerful. I also find a better price for the 996 604 103.

What has failed on your starter? Do you work on your own car? (It's a miserable job.)

I guess I'd suggest removing the starter and checking the part number on it. Do a direct replacement. Apparently, there's a difference between a starter for a tiptronic and one for a manual transmission.

I have one, that is good (63k miles).
It was in my car, and (I still have a strange noise sometime on startup, felt the cause was starter, ..and no, changed it, ..same thing, zero difference !)
This is how I have a spare, and can make it available if you are interested.
Just let me know.
(It is from a (mine) 2001 986 Boxster S)

I have a couple...including one from a GT3 with only 37K miles...let me know if you want to make a deal.
