Default Best HD camcorder for Autocross?

I want to get a new hd camcorder. What's the best to use for Autocross, filming the kids, etc?

I don't know much about camera or computers. What's the easiest to use to watch the film on TV and transfer to DVD?

thank you,

G

as for camcorder alone - you cannot serve 2 gods at once. in a car you want something simple and extra light, if you do not care about getting any telemetry data (speed, rpm, acceleration, temps) - they get a gopro camera http://www.goprocamera.com/ and perhaps a windshield mount http://www.filmtools.com/filmtools-i...era-mount.html. If you need telemetry - look at aim smartycam, it is a great product.

To film your kids, trips, making proper videos you need a proper camera with anti-shock, zooming, etc. it will be too heavy to mount on a windshield for auto-x. look at any recent modern cameras based on SD memory. very difficult to pin-point no knowing your price range. Canon Vixia HV30 is quite good, was $1400 or so.

sometimes when i do no feel like carrying anything with us to trips i take videos on pocket panas dmc-fx37 photo camera and it looks perfectly fine on tv too. it is all relative.

The GoPro camera comes with a suction cup mount and a bunch of other mounts with 3M tape.

We are introducing a new camera called Replay XD. This is a Chapstick-sized camera that is really cool. However, they do not have the HD version yet but it is in the works. We hope to have first shipment of them here in the next week or two. Very simple to use. Includes a couple of power adapters, mini 4 gb card and a couple of mounts.

easiest way to transfer is to buy any camera that records AVI files on its SD card, then get AVS Video Converter software. from what I remember it should be able to burn you DVDs from your custom AVI files.

Having video source on any media other than flash memory card will be more complicated most likely.

Does the Go Pro record AVI files on its SD card? Does it come with an SD card? Sorry for the questions.

thanks

GoPro does not include the card but we are running a special where you get a 4 gb card with the camera.

I've got a nice small Canon Elph I use for everything. Small enough to solidly mount, but large enough to be full-featured for use as a camera and camcorder, too. My biggest complaint is that the compression sucks, to the tune of roughly 100mb per minute of video. Works fine for autocross, and saves as an .avi that I copy right off the SD card and upload to youtube. If you've got windows7, drag 'n drop the .avi files to your DVD-R icon, and it will ask you if you want to create a video DVD or a data DVD. Click video, and BAM, you've got yourself a DVD.

The card readers and camera and all will work just fine; you'd need to use 3rd party software to burn a video DVD, though.

I would use the sticky mount for paint, suction cup for windows.

Everyone in my area uses the suction cup exclusively.
