Parade Autocross
My best with no cones was a 56.71. My last run of the day was a 56.008 but I clipped the cone on the right side RIGHT at the start. According to a few friends who were watching, it teetered back and forth and then fell over. So I hit it juuuuust hard enough (damn!) Finished 5th in I-04, would've been 4th had I not hit that cone. There was an old 911 in my class that was shared by 3 people, they were all good drivers and the car was VERY well set up - they all ran 54s IIRC. I didn't stand a chance. (My car is pretty mild, but my 18" wheels put me in "I" vs. "P".)
What's frustrating is that some things really "clicked" for me on that last run (as evidenced by my time, which was 7 tenths faster than all my previous runs.) Another run and I bet I could've taken another tenth or three off....
Great result at 56.8 Ernie.
Michael, don't get a complex, I just think those where excellent time's for, from what I can see a street prepared GT3, compared to race purpose car. Not trying to take away from the 914, it was fast.
That 914 was a ROCKET. I sat with Otto who built that thing. He said it is a terror. He also said the tranny is just full of different ratio 2nd gears. How cool is that! My Son was watching the 914 run video on the big screen and he says to me "hey dad, is that video on fast forward?" And he knows fast cars!
I hear $45k and it can be yours.
The GT3 is heavy in comparison with other lite cars (like yours) but it can still cut a good run if asked. I think I was a 57.0 but it took as much as that street rubber could give to perform at that 100 degree day!
My biggest moment of the event though was watching Peter Porsche run that Spyder on sport cups to a 58. Nice run Peter!
