Anyone going to the Zone 1 autocross in Devens in August

Hey thanks! I'm looking fwd to it. Honestly, due to the abbreviated local AX and personal schedule, it looks like Devens Z-1 will be my one and only AX this year!! I've been doing DEs for seat time and to work towards an instructor level. Only so much time and $$$ ya know. You can't beat AX for 'Bang for the Buck' at the end of the day a 2 day DE @ Watkins Glen cost over $600 between gas, lodging, food and registration......

I hear ya, butzip. I became a PCA National instructor this spring, and I have done a ton of De as a result. I'm getting used to 2 hours of track time versus 50 seconds! I still love the competition of autox, though. Game on!

Yeah, I saw the weather 4-cast is calling for "HEAVY RAIN" on Saturday and scattered t-storms on Sunday. My R-comps are slicks at this point and covered in 'marbles', should be fun first run.....

They are trying a new entrance to Devens so if you have been there before the entrance you used last will be locked. Continue past Bishop road, left at the fork, and turn in at the gaurdhouse. Unfortunatly, there is no tarmac on either side of the grid area so we will need to park in the grass to leave enough room for the grid. There is plenty of paved area on the small section outlined in blue, next to the grid area. Potties and dumpster are there also.

Is there a black cloud over Zone 1? Last year we got booted out on the second day. This year looks like we will be flooded out on the first day with 2-5 inches of rain, depending on the forecast that you look at. All forecasts say 100% chance of rain with possible thunder storms for Saturday. Sunday looks to be the better day.

Monday and back at work. Super hero costume hung up in the garage to dry. 3 words for Saturday, Need Rain Tires. A6s just plain suck in a constant rain. Looks like I will be getting a set for next year. Sunday was awesome though. I managed to hold on to FTD up to the last min when a cup car got me by hundredths. Oh well, always next year. I know better than to eat a sub just before running, did it anyway. Upside of this event is that it also counts as an autocross day for both NCR and NER, and you had to run both days to qualify for points.
Good to see many of the faces from last year, even though I am horrible at remembering names.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering how the event went. I really wished I could have made it but Saturday's weather made me feel a little better about being busy. There is a rain run up on youtube.
I wish there was a web forum where everyone that runs at Devens chatted. For the number of groups and people that run there the online presence is pretty small.

Well, I wasn't able to make Saturday. A family emergency had me in New York for the day. As it was a washout, I don't feel too bad Sunday turned out beautiful. Starting out as 55 degrees and cloudly, it ended up 82 and sunny!
What a field of cars!! Drew, nice talking to you, your car was so poised and you really drove the wheels off it!!
Other notables:
- 68' 911 coupe
- 76' targa - inside front wheel 6 inches off the ground!!
- 72' 911E
Ok, I'm partial to the early cars....
- 997 Turbo
- 997 C4S
So on and so on....
