Default light weight wheel

I'm looking for the best OEM wheel for my DE,track 1991-964. Performance and weight is more important than looks. I do not understand much about wheels so please keep it simple. If possible, part #s will be best. Thanks

Is there a reason you require OEM? Virtually all the OEM wheels are heavier and less wide than optimum for a track or DE car not forced to run OEM sizes by class regulations.

Just trying to keep it simple. I get confused just with OEM wheel. Non OEM is fine also. But please keep recommendation simple. Thanks.

What's your price range? Most guys I run with are more concerned with price/performance than just performance, and as such we end up using things like either 15" phone dials (light & cheap if they'll clear your brakes) or diamond wheels (cheap, but high quality custom steel wheels - good for those who want 9" wide wheels without dropping a few grand for them).

IMHO stay away from used wheels for the track. Used wheels can have cracks that can lead to failure on track. Saving money on wheels can be penny wise but pound foolish if the failure results in a crashed car.

OZ Alleggerita. Several pounds (<20) lighter than stock, costs less than an OE wheel, and OZ quality.

Give me a call if you would like to discuss.

This wheel isn't available in 17" for the Porsche (5x130) bolt pattern is it? Is there a way to search on TireRack for wheels by size, offset, etc instead of by car? Is there a way to see the available sizes of a wheel?

MY02 996 17" 10 spokes are pretty nice/light for OEM/BBS.

KISS. Either some Cup 1 or Cup 2 wheels.. or 17" Boxster wheels. These are typically 7-7.5" front and 8.5-9" rear. See em often in that $500-700 set range.

If you really want "light wheels" then you need to spend BIG $$ ($1500-2500 I'd say). If you don't understand much about wheels, then would you then also notice the difference between "light" and "heavy" wheels?

For images, I would check out www.wheelenhancement.com - they sell/carry lots of OEM style and aftermarket wheels for porsches.

Found one of my old threads on this wheel. Just about the same price range as the 17" cup/boxster wheels and lighter to boot.

Volk TE37's. Super light, pretty and strong. Not sure if they'll work on a 964 though.

Here is a link with all the sizes and offsets.

There are some 964s running them.
