AX in Greensboro, NC - 10.11.08
The Carolinas Regions PCA is having an AX in Greensboro, NC on Saturday, October 11, 2008. It is being hosted by Foreign Cars Europa in conjunction with their Octoberfest celebration. There will also be a show-n-shine the same day.
Additional info can be found in Tobacco Roads on pages 16 and 17.
PCA members only. Typically we only have about 30 cars show up and try to get in three morning runs and three afternoon runs. Lunch is being provided by FCE.
Who's coming?

I'll be running on my Victoracers.
The track is a going to be a strange track. If we use the same area we used last year, it's not a big square parking lot but two long narrow lots with a large circular turn around at one end.
The stickys will be a big plus.

Stickies put you in SP though, according to the autocross thing on the PCA website?
http://www.pca.org/autox/AX_5.html
Are there only 4 classes...my SP 944 would be with a SP 997S?
Sorry, never been to a PCA event before; used to SCCA.

Cars will be grouped according to number of participants, trying to keep enough cars in the classes to have some competition.
These were the 2007 year end run groups, not the groups for each separate AX.
A3 - All 944, 944S
A5 - 968
A7 - 911 and 912 1972-1977
A8 - 911 and 912 1978-1983
A10 - RS America
A11 - 993
A12 - 996
A14 - Boxster
A15 - Boxster S
If there are three Boxsters and one Boxster S, they will be grouped together.
If there are two 944s they will be grouped with the early 911/912.
All non-Porsche cars competing will be grouped together.

knfeparty,
Great to meet you and your lovely friend. The official times will be available first of November and I'll post the link here.
My VictoRacers are toast. I've gotten a year on them, including lots of road miles. This last event, Becca got four runs on them, I got two good runs on them, and then they got too hot, too slick. Oh well, another set will be on the car for next years events.
Next Carolinas Region PCA AX will at VIR, Saturday, November 22. We will be AXing on the Patriot Course. The Patriot Course is the 3/4 mile infield section of VIR. At the same time, the Carolina Regions will be having a DE at VIR for three days.
Last year, the course was arranged with just enough cones to slow the cars down, but I still reached speeds in the 944 of 70 mph; 3rd gear, pedal down, then braking to negotiate a chicago box. It was almost a mini DE. 3/4 mile track, one car at a time, and the clock is chasing you.

Thanks NC!
I had fun and so did Jackie.
Mark got the 944 put back together while we were running the event, but Jackie's mom's car held up okay:
The best part of the day was when people would come up to me and say, "sweet car, what mods does it have?" and I would reply with, "it's her mom's."
Sorry to bring a BMW to a PCA event! I'll have the 944 ready for the next one, I actually ran it on Sunday at another event and it did well.
I'll see about that Patriot course event. Sounds like fun, but I gotta see how my class schedule is looking as far as exams.
