Autox with the SVT Cobra mustang club
This should be really interesting. I'm not taking my RS today though. Today I am going to punish the Pzeros on the SL55 K2 beast. With 628 tq under my foot something has to happen. Also a lot easier to left foot brake. Hope to get vids up later this eve. Spent time last night gaffing a camera mount. Hope it makes it past tech inspection.

Very long course and easy to read. Better to use my brain on car control instead of just trying to find my way around. Nowhere near the fastest but certainly the best sounding. 1st gear all the way.

Wow, I can just hear the weight of that Mercedes on those poor tires. I wonder if with all that weight and horsepower if it could complete that tight autocross course any faster than a previous gen SL500?
That's brave of you to autocross that car -- certainly you could take it to the dragstrip and play hero. What times/speeds have you run in the 1/4 or 1/8?

Yes at Devens. First and last time with that beast.
Dr. Car
Never dragged it so I don't know. From 40 mph roll it keeps up with a 997TT and just looses maybe a car length around 140(before I sold the TT).
That was a clean run and the tires were fairly quiet compared to my earlier runs.

I spent 9 lovely months there about 10 years ago.
So now there is an autox track on base?

Plus, at 2+ minutes, I'd be concerned about having adequate worker coverage, and having lots of reruns from faster cars catching slower cars, and the longer waits between cars that would be necessary in order to avoid such problems.

Not a problem. At 40-60 sec you are just getting into it and it's all over. We usually have 30 to 40 people to cover the course. If you use autoX compound tires it may be necessay to water down your tires but streets or R compounds are fine. We usually run 3 cars at a time and space them accordingly. Run groups are split into two sub groups to keep wait times down. It also allows for two driver cars to run one driver in each half.
Tires were getting a little toasty yesterday but then again they got in 10 runs.

Sometimes we have a car take that long, but usually they are new & lost, heh.
