I think he's removing his cigarette lighter.

I will be doing the same. I'm also planning on getting a haircut tomorrow which I hope will reduce some of my unsprung weight. Here are my mods for this weekend and expected time reductions:

Remove cigarette lighter -.25 seconds
Haircut - -.5 seconds
Remove caps on tire valves -.25seconds
Install in-car video system for watching **** in-between runs -4 seconds

So I should be a total of 5 seconds faster as well this week. Maybe Mike can share his secret now.

I actually just recently did the same thing.

I started runing 36 psi all around - too much oversteer
I dropped the fronts 29 psi and kept the rears at 36 psi - still too much oversteer
Kept the fronts at 29 psi and dropped the rears to 34 psi - So much better

Still a little bit of oversteer...but controllable...and maybe preferable in an autocross.

I do need more rear traction though. Last weekend when I was coming out of turns into the straights, my rear tires where spinning a lot before they would hook up.

I have been running for quite some time without the covers on my valve stems. It has helped but since i still need that extra edge I am looking more toward aerodymamics. I think I will be shaving the threads off the outside of the valve stems. The smoother surface will create less drag and I think should improve my time by at least 10 seconds if not more. it has been proven that the only time the threads are benificial is when the valve stems are in the 10 o'clock position on passenger side and 2 o'clock position on driver's side as it provides some down force to improve traction. However, it slows down the vehicle at all other points. Additionally, only the most skilled drivers can get the valve stems synchronized so they are all in the correct positon at the same time. I will consider runing again with the threads in a few years.

Matt - got this post while i was in a public place by myself. Started laughing out loud and got a few looks from others.

Jon - Since you did have a landmark birthday it is time to put the good rubber on.

Interesting ideas, funny also, I was thinking about a stealth paint job so I can take a few shortcuts without ayone noticing. That alone could get me the fastest time of the day guaranteed

I am open to any creative ideas, and like always I'll try to help anybody that needs a better setup regardless if they are competing in my class or not. I think it's a lot more fun if everyone car has the most effective setup and then is you driving that really makes a differnce.

No probs, it's okay. The concept of having other Porsches to run against is something I'll read about anytime!

I've only ever run with other Porsches at the Parade last year - this weekend is the Canadian National Championships in Toronto, and I'm the only Porsche entered! (In class, I'm going to get steamrollered by Z06's, but what can ya do ... )

Anyhow, to kill the thread, changing the rear anti-roll bar from 20mm (factory optional) to 16mm (stock) did the trick nicely (front bar is 30mm). Still got steamrollered by the Z06, of course.
