Default Porsches / Rennlisters at the SCCA Solo 2 Nationals

Day 1 results have been posted to http://ww2.scca.com/Solo.php

I only know of two Rennlisters in attendance:
  • Brian Leduc (BGLeduc) - 16th ASP
  • Stephen Hui (PedalFaster) - 9th BS
There are several other Porsches doing well, though:
  • Jodi Fordahl, '04 996 GT3, 1st ASPL
  • Greg Fordahl, '04 996 GT3, 3rd ASP
  • Scott Fraser, '02 996 GT2, 5th SM2
  • Paul Kozlak, '97 993, 6th AS (and AS winner at the Pro Solo Finale)
  • Leeds Gulick, '04 996 GT3, 6th ASP

Hey Steve, guess I missed you there.

Yup, its always tough when you bring a knife to a gun fight! But I sure had a blast, and I did avoid DFL! Gotta love dropping 4600 feet in altitude, and landing on grippy concrete.

I posted a pic and a few words here:

Glad you had fun. You may have missed me, but I got an eyeful of you -- I was working course during your heat. You looked good, and should be happy with your finish. You're absolutely right that you didn't exactly show up in the fastest car in the class, so you had an uphill battle to fight.

Results after Day 3:

Rennlisters
  • Brian Leduc (BGLeduc) - 16th ASP (final)
  • Stephen Hui (PedalFaster) - 10th BS (T) (final)
Other Porsches
  • Jodi Fordahl, '04 996 GT3, 2nd ASPL (T) (final)
  • Greg Fordahl, '04 996 GT3, 3rd ASP (T) (final)
  • Scott Fraser, '02 996 GT2, 3rd SM2 (T) (final)
  • Paul Kozlak, '97 993, 4th AS (T) (final) (and AS winner at the Pro Solo Finale)
  • Lynne Rothney-Kozlak, '97 993, 8th AS (T) (final)
  • Leeds Gulick, '04 996 GT3, 7th ASP (final)
  • Matt Murray, '02 996, 15th SS (with one day remaining)

Congrats on your trophy! Man, those are so hard to come by!

Well, if you worked course while I ran, I suppose you noticed I dropped anchor about 100 feet too soon on the north course (right after the kink on the big straight.....and for good measure, I did it twice!), and did you see me get totally lost on my first lap on the south?

I made the right leading to the short shute preceding the big slalom....and I just blanked! I think I made that corner with a mental picture of that turn on the north course. I'm not even sure how I got back on course...surely the course workers were wondering if I was making up a new course as I went along

But they were no doubt two typically great nationals courses; the kind of course that make people love going to Topeka in September.

Congrats again on a fine job!

BGL & Pedal -

Congrats on your finishes. Pedal - you trohpied? If so, then awesome! How did Darren Disimo do in BS? I used to autocross w/ him about 10 years ago in South Florida. He's been a Miata faithful for many years.

Brian - you are in a very, very competitive class, so my hats are off to you. Glad to see you guys do well..

He actually ran in CS in a Miata and did very well -- fifth out of forty-eight drivers. I thought he did even better at the Pro Solo Finale, but the SCCA results page is broken, so I can't confirm.
