there appears to not be an iphone version of this software? does it require a cell connection if you don't upload video? don't want to switch from iphone, don't want another cell bill

No iPhone version, just Android. You can get a used Android phone or tablet w/o cell connection and use it. Then just get on Wi-Fi when back at home or whatever.
