Default 19x8.5" wheel possibility

Not a sure thing for sure, but Apex is open to potentially making a 19x8.5 in SCCA street legal fitment for the front of the 981S/GTS and 718 (all trims). I had some experience working with them on the VW front and they made 17" fitments they weren't really planning on doing based on community feedback. So, worth a shot?

(I have no association with Apex outside of me buying wheels for my mk7 Golf R at a one-time discount for letting them scan my car's brake clearance)

981 S/GTS (maybe base?) And 718 (all models) front wheel fitment. Not sure on final offset but Apex would presumably either keep the et57 of the available 20x8.5 options or shift it within ruleset (they tend to be very thorough on those types of things).

They would need to adjust fitment on the rear 10" wheels they have too now that you mention it, the offsets are off for the rear on their offerings right now, so they'd have to do a rear fitment as well.

You can buy 19" OZ Leggera's in 19x8.5 with a 53mm offset and a 19x10 with a 40mm...No need to wait. You can also have a set of BC Forged made to your exacting specs for under $4k and not have to settle for anything.

I've asked Apex about an SCCA 19x8.5 option last winter. They said they would consider making them at some point, but it clearly doesn't appear to be a priority for them, so I ended up ordering a set of Forgeline GS1Rs.

I added my email to their 19"x8.5" wish list. I already have two sets of AX wheels (OZ's and BC Forged which were custom made) but the OZ rears are only 10" wide so they aren't legal for SCCA for my 718 GTS. I really like the Apex VS-5RS wheels and they already have the correct rear wheel/offset of 19"x10.5" ET44. Hopefully if they get enough interest they will make the front wheel with a ET54 offset which would compement the rear wheel perfectly (+3mm front and rear from stock).

@flasch Missed your sale (d'oh!) but am just now buying a car so it didn't make sense at the time. how did you like the BC Forged wheels in general? Leaning towards basically those exact wheels right now.

They worked great. No complaints. I sold them off to a friend.

I have 19x8.5 OZ Leggera's on the way (couldn't wait for Apex to maybe make an 8.5). I had OZ's on my last Boxster and they were light and worked well so hoping for the same here.
